PLTA Solutions

Production Line Test Automation

Electrom’s Production Line Test Automation (PLTA) solutions come in a range of systems for every budget.  Automate your QA testing program with a single instrument that seamlessly integrates with your production line. Options such as bar code scanning, external controls, and automatic uploading of test results make the iTIG the most cost-effective solution for developers, manufactures, and OEMs.

Manufacturers of electric motors, generators, alternators, and coils can rely on the iTIG for quality assurance and new technology development on the production floor or in the R&D lab.

The iTIG is easy to use and features over 20 high- and low-voltage tests and measurements.  Options for automation, reporting, data import and export, and other advanced systems are flexible.

PLTA-1

Advanced Test Error Analysis

Script file to expand the standard Pass/Fail limits to include verification of nominal Inductance (L) and Resistance (R), and PD measurements.

PLTA-3

Specialty Features

• Pre-stored master coil testing
• Barcode scanning
• PLC controls

Expand the capabilities of the D model to include higher levels of automation for use with single coil/motor types or with multi-model production lines. Enables fast and efficient testing against pre-stored master coils/motors. Use a barcode scanner and PLC to further automate the process.

PLTA-3-20

RS-232 Serial Controls Input

Fully integrate with your production line. This option adds RS-232 serial controls to PLTA-3 and is used for coil/motor selection, serial number and temperature input

PLTA Package Features: Designed to Improve Testing Speed and Reliability

Test One or More Device Types

Test single or several multiple types of motor or coil.

Portable or Stationary

The system can be moved around the floor or integrated into a production line to be stationary.

Wide Output Voltage Range

Maximum output voltage ranges from 4kV to 40kV.

Gold Standard Reference Device Comparison

Compare test results of a single type of coil or motor to a designated master coil or master motor unit.

Remote Operation

External controls enable remote operation.

Automated Testing

Select an unlimited number of tests from default setups and run automated test sequences from a PLC/PC without an operator present.

Pre-configured or Manual Tests

An unlimited number of predefined test-sets and parameters can be programmed for individual models to be tested.

Multiple Data Import Methods

Bar code scanning or serial port controls allow for fast and easy data import.

Real Time Data Upload

The tester will upload report results to a server in real time.

Seamless Integration From a Single Instrument

Other test automation systems require interfacing multiple independent units so implementation can be costly. With Electrom’s PLTA solution, a single instrument can be set up at a stationary test station or carried around the production floor. Having the choice of a dedicated test station’s stability or mobile versatility whenever you need it makes the iTIG the cost-effective choice for test automation implementation.

  • Perform all tests on various types of coils, stators, assembled motors, generators, single phase or 3-phase equipment.
  • Use on single product or multi product production lines
  • Manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic mode.
  • Enter test information manually, using a bar code scanner, or upload by computer to the tester via the instrument’s serial port interface.
  • Operator or PLC/PC test start.
  • Test results can be uploaded to a server automatically in real-time and at the conclusion of each test set.  Data can also be stored in the tester and uploaded later or transferred to a Flash Drive.

Available Tests

  • 4-wire µΩ winding resistance measurements
  • Inductance and Impedance measurements
  • Various Insulation Resistance (Megohm) tests
  • DC Hipot, Step Voltage and Ramp tests
  • High Frequency Surge comparison tests with up to 50 Hz surge pulse repetition rate find more turn-to-turn insulation weaknesses than testers with lower rates such as the common 1-5Hz rates
  • Surge tests of assembled motors without turning the rotor
  • Surge test comparisons to master coils or master stators where each phase in the motor is compared to the equivalent phase in the master stator
